Online Flex System

Avid
Technology is a global technology
leader. Building on a concept that originated in a garage in Massachusetts
in 1987, Avid has become the world leader in digital media creation tools
for film, video, audio, and broadcast professionals – as well as for
home video and home audio enthusiasts.
To remain competitive and meet staff needs in its twenty-country
organization, Avid set out to develop a policy and approach to flexibility
that could apply globally.

After first developing some of its own policy and support materials, Avid
began discussions with Rupert & Company to consider developing a
package that would integrate their core policies into the comprehensive FlexWise™
suite of online flexibility guidelines. The internal task force also
decided to adopt the online suite of FlexWise™
training tools and to use our live HR training sessions to facilitate the
global rollout.
Avid
is a powerhouse in the field of online editing of films and music. Working
together closely the Avid and R&C staffs collaborated in the energetic
and thorough editing and customization of many aspects of the guidelines
and training. The outcome was a toolkit which could work equally well in
the United States, France and the UK – integrating largely common and
always consistent core principles with country-specific requirements.
In
the end, facing an aggressive timeline and staffing shifts midstream, the
Avid-R&C team was able to deliver an outstanding toolkit on time and
within budget. A live training of Avid’s US and European HR leaders
prepared the organization for a full launch and informed support system.
The training not only allowed a full review of the policy and online
tools, but an opportunity to explore best practices and likely challenges.
The robust and well-received initiative at Avid Technology is now
supported by the following online elements:
