We have long been champions of the flexible workplace.
But the flexibility we seek is not the unpredictable,
marginal form we have seen in this recession.
And unfortunately we are not likely to see a resumption
of the steady march toward more flexible ways of working
anytime soon.
Indeed, it is not clear exactly what role flexibility
will play in our organizations’ futures.
I am not alone in not knowing. I doubt that I would have
survived a career in flexibility consulting if I were a
“the glass is half empty” kind of guy.
But the truth is that flexibility as we have known it
